To the east, the N106 takes you from Nîmes to Alès, then on to Florac and Mende. From Mende, the RN88 takes you to Le-Puy-en-Velay and Lyon.
The Corniche des Cévennes is another popular route to Florac from Anduze, near Alès.
Ganges, at the foot of the Cévennes, links the plains and scrublands of Languedoc with the highlands of the Cévennes and Mont Aigoual. It's the most immediate gateway to the region from the south, but the winding roads can be tricky.
